The Green Schwinn

I picked up this Schwinn for sale online. It had been painted with gloss, and it was a bit old, with rusty spokes and chain guard. But I knew that there was a beauty under there just waiting to re-emerge! So I took it back to the workshop to give it some TLC and a new lease of life…

Bringing in The Big Guns

Under all that red gloss it turns out the frame was originally blue. See that black bit? I’ve never had to use an acetylene torch and an air chisel to get a seat post out before!

Almost every inch of this bike was covered in gloss. That’s too much sanding even for me, so off for a quick sand-blast treatment.

Wheely Tedious Work

These wheels were in a sorry state and took a lot of elbow grease to get all shiny again. So I took a bit of a break halfway through and turned my attention to the bendy, rusty fenders.

Then on to eight hours of sanding, polishing, re-lacing and brand new nipples. So satisfying seeing everything get SHINY!

Candy Apple Green

This colour was so delicious I almost wanted to eat it.

Life’s a Beach

A finished Schwinn, right at home on the seafront showing off all its shiny bits in the sun.
